Nutritional Elements Imbalances Is The Major Cause of Chronic Diseases

Out of the 118 different types of elements present in nature, the earth alone sweeps a whopping 90 of which human beings account for 27 out of these earth-possessed elements. These 27 elements present in humans are iodine, carbon, tin, nitrogen, molybdenum, sulfur, selenium, chlorine, bromine, potassium, vanadium, calcium, iron, cobalt, arsenic, manganese, magnesium, nickel, oxygen, fluorine, zinc, phosphorus, silicon, sodium and chromium. All the elements contained in the above table have their roles in human health and there is an acceptable quantity for which their maximum benefits can be enjoyed. When there is an over-consumption of any of the foods containing these elements, the result is usually an accumulation of toxins in the body. On the other hand, where any of them is deficient, the result is what is called malnutrition.
A disease is said to be chronic if it develops slowly and takes a longer time to treat. Many symptoms are often associated with chronic diseases and it is never a wise thing treating the symptoms without knowing the root cause. The root cause of most chronic diseases is our individual’s lifestyle as it relates to diet and physical exercise. Four major nutritional elements are required by our body for balance and they are Sodium, Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium. Similarly, there are four balances a healthy body has to attain. These are

  • Acid-Base Balance
  • Water Balance
  • Electrolyte Balance
  • Osmotic Balance

However, the Different Forms of Nutritional Imbalances as Witnessed Today include

  • Chlorine-Iodine Imbalance. This is when there is too much of chlorine at the expense of iodine
  • Carbon-Oxygen Imbalance. A situation where there is no enough oxygen but there is plenty of carbon
  • Calcium-Magnesium Imbalance. Excess of calcium at the expense of magnesium
  • Sodium-Potassium Imbalance. When there is no enough sodium and there is plenty of Potassium
  • Iron-Manganese Imbalance. Insufficient manganese and excessive iron.
  • Copper-Zinc Imbalance. Insufficient zinc but excess copper.

Each of these nutritional imbalances has lifestyle habits associated with it. For instance, Carbon-Oxygen imbalance results when a person seldom does exercise but eats much food with majority of the food lacking in fruits and vegetables.
Sodium-Potassium is often a direct result of eating too much salt and taking less of fruits and vegetables rich in potassium such as seaweed, buckwheat, purple potato and taro
Calcium-Magnesium is usually an experience of someone taking excess of bone meal or calcium supplements but failing to feed correspondingly on green-leaf vegetables, Broccoli, cocoa bean and Swiss chard which are known to be rich sources of magnesium
Chlorine-Iodine Imbalance results from neglecting or taking less of iodine-rich foods such as kelp and taking more of other halogen-containing foods.
Copper-Zinc Imbalance arises from a lifestyle of eating less of zinc-containing food substances such as oysters, pomegranates, asparagus, kelp and even cocoa bean.
Iron-Manganese results when less of manganese-rich spices are eaten and food rich in iron e.g. unripe plantain are consumed in excess. The ready sources of manganese in diets are cloves. In fact, it has been established that one viable way of removing too much iron in the body is by increasing your phytate consumption. Cocoa beans are reputed for being exceptionally rich in phytic acid.

Chalcogen Family Nutrient Elements
The elements under this family include oxygen, sulfur and Selenium. To get enough oxygen absorbed by the body, aerobic exercises are highly recommended. Also, food items such as watercress, cauliflower, onion, leek, chives, garlic and broccoli are rich sources of sulfur. They should be incorporated into daily diets to forestall any imbalance associate with it.
For deficiency in selenium, the various food sources of selenium such as oysters, asparagus and Brazil nuts are highly recommended. Brazil nuts have been credited to have the highest number of selenium of all foods. It is the long-term imbalance of these chemical elements in our diets that often result in various chronic diseases.

Other Categories of Imbalances

Fatty-acid Omega 3-Omega 6 Imbalance. This is when there is much of omega 6 fatty acid at the expense of omega 3.

Gut bacteria Imbalance results when there are excess of harmful bacteria in the gut at the expense of the harmless ones. A key way to address this very dangerous imbalance is to feed on soluble fiber such as Konjac fiber which is fermentable by gut bacteria.
